I have put together some information for you to regarding the road situation to read prior traveling to our beautiful town in paradise. These updates can change at short notice, please check the link below with the latest updates.
SH 1 Hundalee To Oaro
Area Warning: Delays
Road Works
Due To Construction Of New Guard Rails And Retaining Walls Through The Hundalees, The Road Will Be Under Stop/go In The Daytime And Traffic Lights At Nighttime. Delays Between 10-20 Minutes Can Be Expected.Earthquake Damage – SH 1 Goose Bay To Peketa
This Road Will Be Open Friday To Monday From 7am To 7pm, Tuesdays To Thursdays This Road Will Be Closed Between Goose Bay And Peketa To Allow For Further Works To Be Completed. Road Users Are Advised To Expect Delays And To Take Extra Care When The Road Is Open As There Are Multiple Roadwork Sites And Speed Restrictions In Place. The Road May Close At Short Notice Due To Weather Conditions. Please allow enough time when planning to leave from Christchurch travelling north to get through to Kaikoura before the road closes at Oaro. Detour route: During Road Closures, Southbound Traffic Should Use The Inland Route To Waiau And Travel South On Sh7 Back Onto Sh1.
